[What is a point tap?]
It is a groove-shaped cutting tap that discharges chips in the tap traveling direction, and is ideal for machining "through holes". It is characterized by low cutting torque as there are few obstacles to the chips. There are two types of materials, mainly HSS (= high speed steel) and carbide: HSS is tough and hard to break and carbide is abrasion resistant.  ▲ Close
