Locating, Positioning, Jigs & Fixtures

Positioning and jig parts are auxiliary parts that accurately hold the position of the workpiece and guide the work position of tools, etc. Positioning consists of one that is on the fixed reference side and one that is positioned on the fixed reference side. Even with complicated shapes, accurate positioning is possible with appropriate jigs and restraining methods. There are two types of restraint methods: three-way restraint and two-way restraint. Three-way restraint includes three methods: positioning on a fixed surface, positioning on a hole, and positioning on an adjustment point / plane. The two-way constraint is used when only two directions are required, such as a round shape or a long shape, and positioning is performed on a fixed surface called a shoulder pad or by a V-groove. Types include plungers, index plungers, locating pins and bushes, positioning guide parts, etc. The plunger uses a spring and is used for positioning the die and drill hole.
